FAQ
TOP10 List of Embarrassing Massage Questions

1. Should I take off all my clothes? Please undress just to your comfort level. Your modesty well be protected as you will always be draped. Only the body part that is being worked on will be uncovered. Some people are more comfortable nude. Others leave on their underwear.

2. The pressure is not deep enough or is too light, but I don't want to insult the therapist. What should I do?
Please speak up and let your therapist know. She can adjust the pressure so it is just right. On a scale of 1 to 10 where 1 is no pain and 10 is extremely painful, the pressure should always  be less than 7.

3. Am I supposed to tip the therapist? In a spa or hotel setting, a 15% to 20% tip is standard if you were pleased with the service. In a medical or clinical setting, it may not be appropriate. Just know that you can always show your appreciation by referring friends, family and co-workers to the therapist.

4. Should I talk to the therapist during the massage? Some people prefer to talk, but don't feel that you must make conversation. Deep tissue work and sports massage massage require feedback. The therapist will want to make sure you are not uncomfortable. Other massages are meant to be relaxing, so feel free to close your eyes and relax.

5. What if I get an erection during the massage? Some men don't get a massage because of this fear. Or they get the massage, but are unable to relax. There is no reason to be embarrassed. It can happen during a non-sexual, therapeutic massage. Gentle touch administered to any area of the body can activate the parasympathetic nervous system and cause a partial or full erection. Your therapist understands this and will generally ignore it.

6. Is it normal to fall asleep? Will the massage continue if I'm asleep? Some people fall asleep just as soon as they stop moving. Others just become very relaxed. The massage will continue and as you drift in and out of consciousness. Tell the therapist if you want to stay totally awake.

7. What if I drool or pass gas? It's normal as you become completely relaxed. The therapist will pretend not to notice.

8. I'm self-conscious about a certain part of my body and don't want the massage therapist to see me. What can I do?
People are self-conscious for various reasons. Common concerns are:
I'm overweight.
I have excessive hair growth on my body.
I have acne on my face or back.
My feet are ugly.
I have scars.
Being self-conscious should never keep you from seeking health care, whether it's
visiting your doctor or seeing a massage therapist. If you're uncomfortable about one of your features, jusk ask the therapist to avoid that area.
If you're sensitive about your weight, know that the tables and chairs are fine up to about 350 lbs. If you weigh more than this just mention it to the therapist and she can make special arrangements.

9. Massage really helps me but I just can't afford it often. What should I do?
Ask your therapist if they have a sliding scale. Ask if her to contact you when
there are special promotions.
