Orthopedic & Deep Tissue Massage Back to Top

$70 per 60 minutes

Deep Tissue & Orthopedic Massage This is the most requested massage. The pressure is just right. It may involve some stretches and movement. It addresses your special issues: inuries, acute and chronic pain and specific muscle/tendon problems. Tendinitis, thoracic outlet, shin splints, frozen shoulders, low back, hip & knee pain. Conditions like plantar facitis. The massage focuses on site specific rehabilitation of muscles and connective tissues. It uses precision to address the muscle pain. It may include a postural analysis, neuromusclar therapy, myofacial release, stretches, muscle energy work and specific patient home care. Just the right things to restore your body to balance.

Some of the release of the muscles is achieved through trigger point therapy, slow compression and lengthening procedures. Shortened muscles can cause a decrease in blood circulation and inhibit lymph flow. Waste products stored in muscles can cause the muscles to become inflamed and irritating to nerve fibers thus causing pain. The internal toxicity to the immune system can cause disease. Muscle fibers that cannot lengthen are likely to cause injury. They tear at the musculotendinosus joint or where the tendons blend with the periosteum of the bone. Increasing circulation through massage helps the system to carry away waste and bring oxygen to the tissues.

Energetic Biofeedback Back to Top

The Tennant Biomodulator is a type of TENS unit. It's specially programmed and substancially different from all the others I've investigated. It helps your immune system heal muscles and tissues. First I access the area then set the Tennant Biomodulater to the correct power for your body. Then the Biomodulator is massaged over the area where the muscles are tense or in spasm in order to achieve relaxation. The sensation should be pleasant and relaxing. It's my favorite thing to use on bad knees and on neuropathies.

All areas of pain and disease have low voltage. The Biomodulator sends the area energy in order to correct the problems. This treatment is especially good for problem areas that just don't ever seem to go away with any other modalities.

Sports Massage Back to Top

$70 per 60 minutes

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Competitive sports can be harsh on the body and lead to injuries in both the short and long term.  Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates.  It is 3 to 5 times more effective in combating fatigue than resting. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body’s natural immune function.

4 basic applications of sports massage:

Pre-event Massage - This prepares the athlete for the exertion of all out competition. This is given 15 minutes to 4 hours prior to an event. The massage is short and stimulating, invigorating.  It warms and loosens muscles in order to increase performance and avoid injury. It's an adjunct to a proper warm-up.

Post-event Massage - This is given within the 1st hour or two after an event. This prevents delayed onset of muscle soreness and reduces the time it takes for the body to recover from exertion. It increases circulation, clears out metabolic wastes, reduces muscle tension and spasms, and quiets the nervous system. It helps flush from the muscles the lactic and pyruvic acids formed as a result of oxygen depletion.

Restorative Training Massage - This is done during training to allow the athlete to train harder with fewer injuries.

Restorative Massage - This is during rehabilitation to recover from injury more quickly with less chance of re-injury. Orthopedic massage techniques are a must here!
